Is an EMDR or Trauma Intensive for me?

Are you tired of the week to week therapy appointments?  Is it a struggle to adjust your schedule and find the time to consistently attend therapy?  Are you feeling like your progress is slow and you are longing for something to work faster?  If you answer yes to any of these questions, a trauma therapy intensive may be for you.  Intensives are a powerful, deeply healing, and focused time for you to work with an expert trauma therapist on healing from painful life experiences.

What is an intensive?

Here at Wellspring Therapy Associates, we offer two different forms of intensives.

EMDR Intensives

These take place in a half day, three day, or full day format and are offered either virtually or in person. Both are effective!  EMDR therapy is an evidence based treatment (meaning it truly works) for trauma.  MRI images of the brain show the healing in the brain that occurs before and after EMDR sessions.  It is powerful.  EMDR is a form of therapy that reduces the distress around painful life events, allows the negative trauma based belief to shift into a truth based belief, and assists in regulating your nervous system so that you don’t feel on edge or triggered so often.  At Wellspring, we formulate the treatment plan for the intensive so that you can achieve the goals you desire and incorporate attachment work and body based work into the EMDR process.

How do you know if an EMDR intensive is for you?

If you are…

  • Are feeling stuck in traditional, weekly therapy

  • Too busy for weekly appointments

  • Looking for something different in your healing journey

  • Wanting faster progress so you feel better more quickly

  • Wanting to prepare for an upcoming event that may induce anxiety, such as a job interview, sports performance, public speaking, or important test

An EMDR intensive may be the right fit for you!

Research shows that EMDR intensives are as effective as weekly EMDR therapy sessions.  By engaging in EMDR intensives, you reduce the chance of life situations disrupting the progress you are making from week to week.  You will experience a quicker reduction of symptoms and faster progress. It also allows for time that is solely focused on your healing without other interruptions.  Learn more about our EMDR intensives here.

Hope Restored Trauma Intensive

This is an opportunity for women ages 18 and above to come and experience healing.  One of the benefits of the Hope Restored Trauma Intensive is that you do not have to live in Florida to attend! People from anywhere are welcome.  It can be a time for you to step away from the responsibilities of day to day life and focus on your healing. You will receive individual and group therapy, stay in a warm, cozy, and welcoming environment, have nutritious meals, engage in creative arts therapies (you do not have to be an artist to do this), and be with others who truly understand what you are walking through.  We will also have time to have fun and laugh! Trauma healing can be a lonely journey.  At Hope Restored you will connect with others who will see and understand your heart in a safe environment.

This opportunity is a good fit if you are…

  • feeling stuck in traditional, weekly therapy

  • Seeking community with other women who can truly understand

  • Looking for both individual and group support

  • Wanting to feel less alone in your healing journey

  • Desiring a time away to focus on your growth and healing

You may be feeling nervous to engage in therapy alongside others. Let me encourage you, it will be well worth it!  Healing does not happen in isolation.  Community, being in connection with safe others, is an important piece in the healing journey.  This is an opportunity for you to step out of your comfort zone. Anxiety will probably be there for a while, and you can still move forward toward your goals of healing.  It will be worth it! Fear does not need to be the determining factor.  You deserve so much more!

Whether you choose EMDR intensives or the Hope Restored Trauma Intensive, you will experience

  • Renewed sense of hope and joy

  • A reduction in your trauma related symptoms

  • Increased ability to engage in healthy relationships

  • Improved nervous system regulation

  • Increased feelings of calm and peace
